I know that my son and his partner are made in the image and likeness of God. They are not perfect, but they are brilliant, creative, personable and moral. They are certainly not objectively disordered. I know, as do many fathers, mothers, grandparents, sisters, brothers, friends, neighbors, co-workers and fellow parishioners of gay and lesbian individuals and couples, that the relationship, the love, the friendship, the personal association, the proximity, put a human face on this issue and let us see that in the context of the human spirit, none of us are different and none of us should be anything less than fully accepted members of our human community.

Apple iPad 2 is here and tablet contenders need to hit the drawing board

Apple iPad 2 is here and tablet contenders need to hit the drawing board:

But you kind of have to hold the iPad 2 to really get the redesign. It’s thinner by a third, plus its edges taper to a thin line of metal. It’s almost inconceivable that this thing you’re holding is a multicore tablet computer. The Xoom tablet is trim, light, and very pretty … but when you place it next to the iPad 2, it looks as though it was designed and built by angry Soviet prison labor instead of by Motorola.

Yep, design matters.

Apple Outsider: Flash on Android 3.0 Isn’t Ready

Apple Outsider: Flash on Android 3.0 Isn’t Ready:

Until then, we have a product that can’t view its own website. And people still ask, with a straight face, why Flash isn’t on iOS.

I was a bit annoyed when the Xoom was announced and I wasn’t able to view the website (not having Flash installed on my laptop).

Intel to roll out 'Light Peak' tech Thursday

Intel to roll out 'Light Peak' tech Thursday:

Intel released a statement to the media today saying that on Thursday in San Francisco it will “host a…press briefing to discuss a new technology that is about to appear on the market.”

I wonder who will have machines with it built-in first?

Motorola Xoom To Debut Without Flash

Motorola Xoom To Debut Without Flash:

For what it’s worth, both companies have marketed the Xoom’s ability to play Flash content as one of its advantages over the Apple iPad.

Bet you all the review for battery life will be done sans-Flash. I wonder if this is an actual technology issue or a damage control measure by Moto.

Motorola Xoom tablet launching this week, but initial model has major flaws

Motorola Xoom tablet launching this week, but initial model has major flaws:

But since the unveiling at CES, almost every bit of news about the Xoom has been disheartening.

Over-promise and under-deliver.

Hard Sell: Motorola's $800 Xoom Tablet, No Flash Support

Hard Sell: Motorola's $800 Xoom Tablet, No Flash Support:

After Motorola announced its iPad competitor will cost more than the iPad, a Verizon promo uncovered the fact that the Xoom won’t come with support for Adobe’s Flash technology until sometime this spring.

Flash doesn’t.

CNET: Why Apple doesn't need an iPad 2

CNET: Why Apple doesn't need an iPad 2:

But as competing manufacturers trip over themselves to out-spec each other, I have to wonder if they’re missing the point. In fact, it feels a little like deja-vu after spending the past four years watching companies wage a failed battle of specs against the iPod.

Why Google’s One Pass Could Be a Ticket to Nowhere

Why Google’s One Pass Could Be a Ticket to Nowhere:

If anything, it’s likely to be even harder, because it’s based on the open web — and users are likely to notice that all around them is free content, while iPhone and iPad apps do a fairly good job of disguising that fact.

Also, then you have your info. being passed to the advertisers.

BGR: RIM CEO confirms NFC in BlackBerry phones this year

BGR: RIM CEO confirms NFC in BlackBerry phones this year:

Mr. Turner said the mansion, which had 35 rooms in nearly 15,000 square feet of interior space, was significant in part because it was built by George Washington Smith, an architect who is known for his work in California. But Mr. Jobs had been dismissive of Mr. Smith’s talents, calling the house “one of the biggest abominations” he had ever seen.
